Can you be the last one standing?

Trap! Dis my huis is gegrond op die opspraakwekkende internasionale TV-formaat met die naam Get the f*ck out of my house.

Trap!

Trap! Dis my huis is based on the sensational international TV format called Get the f*ck out of my house. The show got viewers talking in the Netherlands, Germany, and Brazil and the Afrikaans lifestyle channel’s version of this format will be the first iteration of this format on the African continent.

The challenge lying ahead for contestants is simple: The 50 housemates must spend three weeks in a two-bedroom house without leaving the house. Housemates who feel overwhelmed by the experience have the option of the leaving the house and, in the process, the competition at any time. Contestants are also frequently voted out of the house by their fellow housemates.

For the three-week period, the housemates must get by on supplies for only two people, but they will also have the opportunities to obtain more food, toiletries, and bedding for the house. R1 million is saved in the house’s money pot and contestants have the option of using this money to buy supplies for the house. Supplies can also be won by means of mini competitions and games. VIA guarantees the final winner of Trap! Dis my huis will walk away with a minimum of R600 000.

“We’re ecstatic about this new format,” Izelle Venter, channel head of VIA explains. “We decided it’s well-suited to our current zeitgeist – the world is a bit wild, confusing, and an unexpected adventure. And so is this format! What’s more, the concept of privacy gets pushed to the limits.”

Trap! Dis my huis will be broadcast on VIA in January 2020. In association with Elco. The show is produced by Afrokaans, the production company responsible for the current season of Survivor SA.

Finding love... in a different way!

Vind liefde saam met kykNET en die nuwe realiteitsformaat Hoor my, sien my, soen my.

V-News celebrates 2000 episodes!

Almost 8 years ago Afrokaans Film & Television got their first commission for a daily 10 minute celebrity news show from GO! Channel. "Stalkerazzi" was soon a hit on the channel with its tongue-in-cheek script (by @shazzala) and even-more-tongue-in-cheek delivery (by @retini) (SERIOUS-leeeee?!)

Later, with the VUZU channel taking over the GO! Channel,  'Stalkerazzi' was incorporated with V-Entertainment, delivering daily 10 minute celebrity news inserts for the VUZU flagship.

Today, the V-News team of Afrokaans Film & Television is celebrating its 2000th episode... still with tongue-in-cheek scripts (by @shazzala) and even-more-tongue-in-cheek delivery (by @retini @aryekellman and @hulisaniravele) (SERIOUS-leeeee?!) - The team (Currently: Sharon, Mabz, Shmangz, Michelle, Skye, Thobi & Noxy) has changed a little over the years, but they still deliver a kick-ass (can we say ass?) show every weekday with the latest from celebville.

Here's to the next 2000! #createbrilliance #welldone

It's a go! Today sees the media launch of Power Couple SA. Over 30 members of the press are expected to attend a very special screening of Episode 1 & 2 of M-Net's brand new feel-good reality TV show, Power Couple, at the new Multichoice City Cinema. The media will get an exclusive look at what is in store for South Africa with #MNetNextBigThing. Excitement!

Power Couple wraps up!

Cape Town - Production for M-Net's Next Big Reality show, Power Couple, has wrapped in Cape Town. The post-production now moves to Johannesburg where the team will be editing from Blade Post Production facilities. The season premiere is set for Thursday 10 September at 19:30 on M-Net (channel 101).

M-Net announces their #MNetNextBigThing... Power Couple

M-Net 101 announced their #MNetNextBigThing at the Bay Hotel in Camp's Bay... and Afrokaans will be producing the next big reality format to hit South Africa - Power Couple. Afrokaans pitched this format to M-Net in July 2014 and will now be producing the first English language version of this popular Israeli format for the Broadcaster's Premium Channel.

Here is the official Press Release:

M-Net, the channel that introduced reality television to the continent with Big Brother South Africa – followed by a winning streak which included blockbuster seasons of Idols SA, Survivor SA and MasterChef SA – is bringing viewers yet another first! In 2015, viewers will fall in love with a brand-new format, Power Couple.

M-Net 101 will be the first English-language channel in the world to produce Power Couple – already a ratings success story in Israel and Portugal, and currently in production in Brazil.

“Power Couple is a revolutionary concept that combines all the elements needed for compelling television,” says Victor Eckard, M-Net’s Director for M-Net 101 and M-Net Edge. “There will be romance, drama, action, adventure and loads of suspense in this unique feel-good series with traces of Fear Factor, Big Brother and game show-type challenges which could yield massive cash rewards for the contestants. It’s all very exciting and we’re thrilled to lead the international pack again by bringing our viewers a fresh format that we believe will soon take the world by storm.”

Power Couple will test the relationship of eight couples, who will move into a luxurious villa somewhere in Cape Town. These couples will compete at thrilling, nerve-wracking challenges, during which they have to illustrate how much they know, trust or love their partners. Based on the outcome of these tasks, two couples will be up for elimination each week and the others will decide whom they would like to keep in the game.

These tough, spectacular challenges – which will sometimes include high-adrenaline action adventures – will allow the couples to accumulate thousands of Rands by betting on whether their loved one will be able to complete a task, without knowing how much their partner has invested in their ability to succeed. If they get it right, the money will be added to their kitty – but if the partner fails, the money will be subtracted from the amount they carry through to the end of the show.

“It could be far more than a Million Rand,” says Eckard. “But also take note, becoming SA’s first Power Couple will be about more than being brave and courageous in the challenges. You’ll have to use your EQ and IQ to ensure that the other couples don’t get rid of you, while strategising to stay ahead of the others at all times.”

If you want to become South Africa’s first Power Couple, do take note that auditions will start soon. The audition dates and venues are as follows:

14 February – The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay, Cape Town
18 February – Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban
28 February – Indaba Hotel, Johannesburg

But who is eligble to enter and what will the producers be looking for?

“You have to be older than 21 and a South African citizen, willing to do crazy and wild things for love,” says Handrie Basson from Afrokaans, who’re producing the show for M-Net 101. “We’ll be looking for diverse, interesting and outgoing people who believe that they’re a winning pair – whether they’ve been married for yonks or at the start of a lifetime together.”

For terms and conditions and to download the Power Couple entry form, all you have to do is right click and save or print the PDF.

Power Couple will be filmed in Cape Town in March and will be screened on M-Net from August 2015.

Wise words from South Africa’s favourite Power Couples; love, trust, power money. Do you have what it takes?
